1 1/2years old.

She was born in the katwe slums in a family with 3 other siblings. As the last born, she was born at home, not immunized, and neglected by a violent father who would frequently violently torture her mother and deny them food. He blamed her mother for giving birth to a child with a disability (club foot disease), which was a sign of bad luck on them.

The father to the IC is violent, a drug addict and has been imprisoned in some cases and charged with marital rape and domestic violence. Currently the IC lives with her mother since the IC father married a second wife.

By the time AFEI social workers identified the she was diagnosed with club foot disease, associated with malnutrition, flu, cough and skin diseases, it was almost too late. She was then admitted and started on treatment, which was disrupted by her father who stole her from the care taker (stepmother). He then disappeared with her for 3 weeks, later we got information that the child was taken back to the original mother, she was later rescued again and admitted to Mulago hospital (mwana mujimu nutrition ward) where she has been admitted for two months and began the treatment again. She was discharged on and is now on one year nutrition plan and 2-3 months therapy with a physiotherapist.

She's now in good condition, recovering well and calls "mum", which she never did before.
