The Happy Days Campaign
Happy Days campaign began in 2017, distributing 750 sanitary pads to 450 homeless girls and teenage mothers in the Katwe, Kisenyi and Katanga slums of Kampala and 300 disadvantaged school and non-schooling girls in poor communities.
The campaign targeted young homeless girls and teenage mothers between 8-17 years of age living on streets and slums of Kampala as well as school going and non-school going disadvantaged girls in poor communities.
Happy homes does not only freely distribute pads but also carries out educational programs that deal with body development and discusses the relationship between pads, periods and early pregnancies to young homeless school and non-school going girls to encourage them to talk freely about their cycles.
As of end 2017, happy days campaign Ug had given out washable and reusable sanitary pads to 750 homeless girls in slums and as well offered participants training in health practices like menstrual hygiene management.
